Cary Chapter Presents Plaque of Appreciation to Bunkey’s Car Wash

 

On January 30, 2011, the Police Benevolent Foundation and the Cary Chapter of the North Carolina Police Benevolent Association partnered with Bunkey’s Car Wash in Cary to raise money for fellow officer and PBA member Matt Long.

Long started his law enforcement career with the Washington DC Metro Police Department and later worked for the Mesa Arizona Police Department before coming to the Town of Cary as an officer in 2004. He was recently diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing extensive treatment. The Cary chapter hopes to alleviate the financial concerns for him and his family as he progresses towards a clean bill of health.

Over 20 PBA members turned out at the two locations to show their support for Long and his family and help with the event. Long’s wife Donna and their daughter Ashley were also on hand to express their gratitude.
Several elected official representing Cary stopped by to show their support (Mayor Harold Weinbrecht, Council Member Jennifer Robinson, Council Member Gale Adcock, Senator Richard Stevens, Rep. Jennifer Weiss, and Rep. Nelson Dollar) and get their car washed. PBF Advisory Board members George Almond and Lorrin Freeman (Wake County Clerk of Superior Court) also participated in the event.

On March 14, 2011, the Cary chapter presented a plaque of appreciation, on behalf of the Police Benevolent Foundation, to Tony Morgan of Bunkey’s Car Wash for donating their business for this important cause.
