North Mecklenburg Chapter Making a Difference

L-R: Natalie Perkins, Laura Falanga, Randy Byrd

On Friday, NC Advisory Board Members Natalie Perkins and NCPBA President, Randy Byrd, met with Laura Falanga in Raleigh to receive a $1,000 check from the Wake Chapter of the Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina (IIANC).  This donation was made possible through the efforts of local chapter members. Often times, we overlook the importance of leveraging our personal connections – even those within our own families. Because of the efforts of Tyler Medlin, a North Mecklenburg PBA Chapter board member, a new relationship was established with an organization that has long had a reputation for supporting local needs and contributing to local causes. Tyler’s wife Jessica is an independent insurance agent and an active member of the IIANC. Through her husband, she became aware of the PBF, it’s causes and it’s needs. It was that awareness that led to the generous donation from the IIANC. The Wake County Chapter of the IIANC typically awards local charities with donations and support annually and because of Jessica's work a donation was secured for the Foundation. In the weeks and months to come we hope to continue to build and strengthen our relationship with the IIANC. Our hope is to make this and contributions from other organizations a consistent part of our annual budget. Please continue to work with us to find more community connections and secure additional support for the Foundation.

“Each of us has the same opportunity. Police officers are some of the most connected people in our society. They are also some of the most respected. They just have to be willing to speak up about the pride in their profession and the value of the PBF as a charitable organization.”  - Randy Byrd, NCPBA Division President
