The Winston Salem Chapter of the North Carolina PBA congratulates
Officer Justin Anderson for receiving the Winston-Salem Police Department’s Medal of Merit

(Winston-Salem, NC – February 16, 2010) -- The North Carolina PBA would like to congratulate Winston-Salem Police Department Officer and NCPBA member Officer Justin Anderson for being awarded the Winston-Salem Police Department Medal of Merit on February 4, 2011 for his professionalism, work ethic and diligence in the performance of his duty.

On December 12, 2010, Officer Anderson responded to an unknown trouble call at a residence in an apartment complex on Bethania Station Road where he found a young child who was unresponsive and not breathing.  Officer Anderson called for an urgent EMS response and began to clear food that was lodged in the child's airway before beginning CPR.  Officer Anderson's quick actions allowed the child to regain consciousness and breathe on his own until EMS arrived on the scene.  Without Officer Anderson's response, the outcome of this event could have been a tragic one.  It is with great respect and admiration that the North Carolina PBA recognizes Officer Anderson for his efforts that day and for receiving the Medal of Merit from the Winston-Salem Police Department.

Winston-Salem NCPBA Chapter President, Lou Ellen Taylor said, "Justin's actions that day saved a young child’s life and we want to commend him for his response.  Medals of Merit are not handed out every day.  Officer Anderson deserves this acknowledgement, and the Winston-Salem Chapter of the North Carolina PBA is extremely proud of him.”
